Tools for the Development and Commercialisation of Smart Textiles [Webinar]
This webinar was organized by the World Textile Information Network (WTiN) and featured information about SmartX.
It’s fair to say that smart textiles haven’t yet had the commercial success the market had hoped for, despite the plethora of R&D activity that’s currently taking place. The industry is therefore encouraged to rethink its business models to remain in a competitive market state and to overcome the hurdles often associated with smart textiles – some of which include high production costs and consumer acceptance rates.
This latest webinar – an interactive Q&A session presented by technical textiles editor Fiona Haran – explored the importance of a strong business model when it comes to smart textiles, while identifying some of the current business models being adopted by the market. Fiona also outlined the industry support and funding that is available for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and discussed opportunities for further growth.
As the editor of the WTiN Nonwovens, Technical Textiles and Knitting & Weaving channels, Fiona is well-placed to bring you up-to-date news on the latest developments in the performance textiles field, together with insightful comment and opinion on the wider issues affecting the market. Fiona has 10 years’ experience in publishing, having previously worked in copywriting. She holds a BA degree in English with Journalism from the University of Huddersfield, and a MA in Magazine Journalism from the University of Central Lancashire, UK.
