Heetee Baby: Smart Carrycot

Project Description

Heetee is a new concept of smart carrycot, which has the ability to monitor the baby’s health and well-being while parents are on the move. The smart carrycot is able to acquire physiological parameters from the baby, such as temperature or humidity, so that parents can be warned if anything is outside recommended health thresholds. All data gathered can be sent wirelessly to a mobile app for parents to track their child’s health.

How Heetee works

Babies have a lot of difficulty regulating their base temperature. They are sensitive to variations in temperature, whether cold or hot. Therefore, it’s important to monitor and be aware of their temperature in order to avoid illness.
The baby is simply placed in the smart carrycot as it would normally be, and the system starts functioning straight away without the need to wear any extra gadget. The solution outlined by Heetee is a practical built-in system, which is always available for use. Parents instantly gain more versatility without having to do any additional task or intermediate step, the stroller already does it for them, maintaining great control over their child's health automatically.
External devices such as thermometers or heart rate bracelets are widely available in the market, but they either do not provide constant monitoring or have to be worn and recharged constantly, which proves to be a nuisance and people tend to stop using them after a while.

How Smart-X has helped with the project

The whole team at Heetee Baby could not be more thankful with the SmartX team and organisation. Thanks to SmartX support, the company was able to start this project and cover many of the costs to prepare the first commercial version of the smart carrycot. The project has been a success and after final testing with the objective public sample, it is ready to be commercialised as an accessory to the main product, so parents can either choose the existing carrycot with only the heating function or the new carrycot with heat and health monitoring functions.

Smart-X has also provided coaching and mentoring, organising a variety of helpful workshops throughout the duration of the project, which in many cases providing specific knowledge and answers to questions and drawing alternative routes to deal with technological barriers and roadblocks on the way. Last but not least, one of the most important outcomes are the contacts gained in different areas of the business.
