Recap: SmartX Regional Event Spain
The second final SmartX regional dissemination event took place on Friday, March 11, 2022 in Barcelona at the Movistar Center. The in-person gathering was hosted by our local programme partner Texfor and came a few weeks after our first national event in Porto, Portugal.
The Barcelona gathering was the second in our series of final SmartX events, hosted by regional programme partners.
The day opened with an overview on the SmartX project by Anna Ribé of Texfor, followed by a presentation by SmartX Project Manager Judith Bosch of Textile ETP, who stressed the importance of the SmartX Community and shared a positive outlook for the future.

It was a pleasure to see pitches by the six SmartX-supported projects from Spain:
SensingTex (Seat Mat for Wheelchairs), Heetee Baby (Smart Carrycot), Marina Race (Undershirt for Motor Racing Drivers), Austral (SENSOMUSCLE: Electrostimulation for Muscle Recovery), Blautic (PIKKU® ACTIVE for measurement of muscle activity), and Bit-Brain (Wearable EEG for Sleep Monitoring), and hear smart textiles success stories.
One of the highlights of the event were presentations by SmartX-supported projects developed by Spanish SMEs.
We were treated to several smart textile success stories.
The event concluded with a networking activity organised by AEI TÈXTILS: European Cluster Collaboration Platform, during which participants were divided into groups and asked to identify challenges and propose solutions to the gaps in the manufacturing value chain. Last but not least, the GALACTICA Project was presented as well, with a mention that the second call for proposals is still open.
